Follow these simple tips for preventative maintenance on your home.
MONTHLY
- Fire Extinguisher: Recharge or replace if needed
- Garbage Disposal: Flush with hot water and baking soda
- Sink/Tub Stoppers and Drain Holes: Check and clean any debris
- Forced-Air Heating System: Change filters monthly
EVERY 2 MONTHS
- Range Hood: Clean grease filter
EVERY 3 MONTHS
- Tub Drain Assembly: Clean out debris
- Floor and Outdoor Drain Grates: Clean out debris
EVERY 6 MONTHS
- Smoke Detector: Test batteries and replace if needed
- Interior Caulking: Inspect caulking around showers, tubs and sinks
- Toilet: Check for leaks or running water
- Washing Machine: Run a cycle with vinegar, check hoses and replace if leaking
- Clothes Dryer: Vacuum link from ducts and surrounding areas
SPRING AND FALL
- Roof: Inspect roof surface, eaves and flashing
- Downspouts and Gutters: Clean them out
- Exterior Caulking: Inspect caulking around windows and doors
- HVAC System: Have a professional service your heat/air conditioning system
