Adding Curb Appeal

Written By: Miller and Associates Realty On: 4th February 2015 Under: Tips

Curb appeal is very important when trying to sell your home.  The first thing that buyers see when they arrive to your home is the outside and this first impression will set the tone for the rest of the showing.  This is why it is important to set a great first impression by having the right amount of curb appeal.  Here are some ways that you can add curb appeal to your home.

Paint the front door, trim, or shutters.

  • Adding a fresh coat of paint can clean up and freshen up the outside of the home. To make a statement paint your front door a bold color that pops

Install new exterior hardware

  • Replace the outside light fixtures with ones that are new or clean up the existing ones
  • Install new house numbers
  • Replace the front door lock set to match your new light fixtures

Upgrade your mailbox

  • Replace your old mailbox with a new and updated mailbox. If your mailbox is mounted by the road, paint the mounting pole to match your house or plant a small garden box around the mounting pole to add some color and freshness

Use flower boxes or create a container garden

  • Window boxes are a quick and easy way to add color to the front of your house. If you don’t want to use window boxes you can make a container garden with large pots and place them on your front porch or around your entry way.

Clean up existing flower beds

  • Pull weeds, remove dead plants, replace or refresh the existing mulch that has been faded from weather. If you have stone or brick borders around the flower garden, replace or reset the pieces that may need it or clean up the pieces that may be dirty.

These simple tricks and tips can be used to increase the curb appeal of your home and help potential buyers see your home as their new home.
