July is the perfect time to celebrate the environment by enjoying Florida’s beautiful outdoor spaces and waterways! With July being Recreation and Parks month, we’ve compiled a list of some nearby state parks in our area you must visit:

St. Andrew’s State Park

Boasting a mile-and-a-half of pristine beaches for fishing and swimming, St. Andrews also offers the opportunity for visitors to stroll through dunes, pines, and coastal plant communities, or spend the night in the shady campgrounds. During the Spring and Summer months, the park offers a shuttle from the mainland to Shell Island.

Camp Helen State Park

From 1945 until 1987 Camp Helen State Park was a company resort for an Alabama textile mill, known as Avondale Mills. Presently, this 180-acre park is for day use only. Bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Powell, activities include swimming, beach-combing, nature study, hiking, bird watching, and both freshwater and saltwater fishing.

Deer Lake State Park

Deer Lake State Park sits next to Lake Powell, a rare coastal dune lake with lush landscapes. It also features a scenic boardwalk running across the vast plains of dunes which offers easy access to the pristine beach that’s perfect for picnics, swimming and fishing.

Grayton Beach State Park

Grayton Beach has been continuously ranked one of the most beautiful beaches in the U.S. Sitting between Western Lake and the Gulf of Mexico, the state park is perfect for those wanting to fish, swim, stand up paddle board, rent a bike, and more. The campground offers a unique experience with vast amenities and cabins for rent.

Eden Gardens State Park

Eden Gardens State Park is home to the historic Wesley homestead that features a renovated, two-story mansion in a setting of mossy oaks and beautiful foliage. The park contains 163 acres of land and visitors flock to the park for guided tours, wandering through the ornamental gardens, or fishing off the dock in Tucker Bayou.
